Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Reports to a Supervisor or Manager.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities - Transports patients according to established departmental procedure to ensure the efficient flow of patient care.
- Adheres to MRI Zonal safety guidelines, if applicable.
- Uses correct infection control procedures when transporting patients.
- Checks patient chart for isolation precautions and follows established guidelines.
- Exemplifies the organization's customer service standards when transporting patients.
- Listen's to patient concerns, anticipates needs, and ensures physical comfort providing pillows and warm blankets if necessary.
- Takes appropriate measures to ensure that patient is not left alone or unattended on stretcher or wheelchair.
- Follow's proper protocols when entering a patient room.
- Regularly updates patient's and family members on any delays in services or unexpected wait times.
- Assists in maintaining communication between the technologist and patient during procedures.
- Offers assistance to the patient's family while patient is undergoing procedure.
- When transporting patients ensures that they are modestly covered and communicates irregularities of the surface floor.
- Assists the patient care team in providing care for the patient (getting supplies, preparing equipment).
- Oversees proper maintenance of transport equipment by promptly reporting malfunctions or broken parts to supervisor. Cleans transport equipment after each patient.
- Maintains files, enters data, and completes paperwork necessary to ensure accurate and safe patient transport through hospital.
- Maintains proper documentation: consent forms, patient information sheets, and discharge instructions.
- Asks for help when oxygen needs to be connected/disconnected knowing that it is a medication and out of scope for transporter work.
- Assists in completion of all paperwork for inpatient, outpatient, emergency, patient procedures, and instructs patients on the proper dressing for required exam.
