The Patrol Officer is responsible for the safety and security of persons, and property on Goucher's campus. These responsibilities are carried out through patrol (foot or mobile or a combination of both), or fixed post assignments. Employees will be assigned to evening, night, or rotating shifts, which may include holidays and weekends. Employees may be subject to call- in and overtime based on staffing needs and will be required to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions. Employees in this position must be willing and available for duty at all hours, day or night, and are required to remain or report for duty at all hours as needed to maintain the continuous operation of this agency.

Essential Job Functions:

30 % A. Primary response to all campus emergencies and some service calls. Ensures proper receipt of and pass along of pertinent between shifts.

30 % B. Reads, comprehends and adheres to all Campus Safety Standard Operating Procedures, and rules of Conduct and reports to the Lead Supervisor any employees who are observed to be in violation of said procedures.

15 % C. Observes and reports in written form all emergencies involving community members and visitors. Also, in written form, reports hazards or maintenance issues in order to minimize loss or damage to property and equipment. Also responsible for making necessary notifications to management.

10 % D. Monitors parking lots for traffic enforcement and maintains the corresponding for reference of any major parking violations.

5 % F. Communicate and maintain good relationships with faculty, staff, students, other law enforcement agencies and public officials

5% G. Backup for Gatehouse as needed. Greet and assist guests and visitors entering the campus, providing friendly and informative assistance. Monitor and enforce access control procedures to ensure only authorized personnel and visitors enter the premises. At specified times, log all visitors entering and leaving the campus, accurately recording necessary details.

5% H. Backup for Dispatch as needed. Answering incoming phone calls to the Campus Safety Emergency phone line. Monitoring the Campus Shield App, DSX access control, and the Campus Fire Alarm alert panel. Dispatches patrol units to all emergency and calls for service. Documents and tracks through utilization of the daily blotter all emergencies and calls for service.

Education:

Required: High School diploma

Preferred: Associates Degree

Professional Experience:

Required: 1 years Customer Service Experience

Preferred: 2 years of Security, Greeter, Front Desk Experience
