Position: Payment Posting Specialist
Department: Payment Posting Department, Revenue Cycle

Role Summary: Performs a variety of payment and non-payment posting activities and related tasks that directly impact the claim lifecycle, contract invoicing, and accounts receivable processes in recognizing the maximum reimbursement from each encounter. This position will be responsible for navigating the billing system, payer portals, and extended vendor systems to post, process, and/or disseminate all incoming third-party correspondence and explanation of benefits.
Responsibilities:
* Understand and comply with all governmental, regulatory, company/departmental and compliance regulations/policies.
* Accurately enter insurance, patient, and other payments (including non-payments/denials) into patient accounts
* Net down accounts appropriately according to the explanation of benefits.
* Record deposits on accounting spreadsheets for each practice.
* Process credit card payments and save/store documentation per internal policy.
* Follow up and complete tasks on pending accounts in a timely manner until account is settled.
* Use of office equipment and software applications to facilitate performance of duties.
Qualifications/Education/Experience:
* 2-3 years practical experience in healthcare payment posting or accounts payable.
* Ability to read and interpret explanations of benefits, insurance denials, partials payments, adjustments, and recoupments.
* Strict attention to detail
* Above average math aptitude
* Ability to effectively multi-task
* Strong comprehensive skills
* Organizational and time management skills
* Effective verbal and written communication skills, including professional phone etiquette.
* Intermediate level of expertise with Microsoft Excel
* Able to function as a cooperative team member with a positive attitude.
* Works well within deadlines, faced-paced environment processing high volumes of payer responses.
