The Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Department of Social Services is looking for a Payment Specialist to support their Children Services Act (CSA) team. The CSA team focuses on keeping children within their families or returning them to their families. They create treatment plans with input from the child, family, and other professionals. The team also contracts with local providers to deliver services and regularly reviews treatment plans to ensure their effectiveness.
What You Do and How You Do it:
You'll be a vital part of our team, directly impacting the lives of families by helping them access crucial services. Your role will involve collaborating closely with children, families, and other professionals to create personalized treatment plans. You'll then coordinate with local providers to ensure these plans are implemented effectively. Beyond direct client work, you'll manage the financial side of the program. This includes processing a high volume of purchase orders and invoices using specialized software, reviewing, and analyzing documentation for compliance, maintaining accurate records for vendor accounts, and resolving inquiries. Additionally, you'll enter, maintain, and manage data in electronic client case files, and develop and utilize spreadsheets for data tracking and reporting. Perform other work as required.
To excel in this position, you'll need strong communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to navigate complex systems. Your contributions will be essential to the overall success of our program and the well-being of the community we serve.
Here's What You Need:
* High school diploma or GED; associate's degree in business, office administration or a related field preferred; five years of experience in increasingly responsible administrative support work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
* Highly proficient in use of computer and software programs such as Microsoft Word, SharePoint, Excel preferred
* Courses in business education and progressive responsible secretarial experience preferred.
Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, CPS registry check and education/degree verification required.
Current valid driver's license and good driving record required.
Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date.

This position is required to serve on an emergency shelter team during times of natural disaster.
