Job Description:

* Oversee the timely preparation, review, and finalization of the Bank's payrolls (bi-weekly, off-cycle, salary continuation, and monthly commission based).

* Ensure compliance with Federal and State DOL and IRS regulation laws.

* Work closely with appropriate department leaders to monitor general ledger activity, payroll related accruals, and labor allocations.

* Supervise and mentor payroll staff, providing guidance and support to ensure higher performance and professional development.

* Generate Business Intelligence reports to review payroll register, employee status, direct deposit, time records, leave of absence, garnishments, deductions and other audit reports to assess the accuracy of payroll outcomes and the functionality of applications.

* Oversee use of electronic timekeeping system, paperless workflow, and maintenance of employee records.

* Maintain confidentiality and data security standards for all payroll-related information.

* Update and administer internal controls and policies/procedures for payroll functions to ensure exposure to liability is minimized through effective implementation and communication.

* In coordination with the Payroll and Benefit Officer, respond to audit/exam requests, providing timely and accurate information facilitating positive outcomes.

* Answer inquiries and provide guidance and resources to managers and employees regarding payroll, timekeeping, and related policy.

* Coordinate all required tax filings and year end reporting such as IRS Form W2 and 1099 processing.

* Monitor and resolve payroll discrepancies, investigating and resolving issues promptly and accurately.

* Stay updated on payroll regulations and update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.

* Collaborate with Human Resource colleagues participating in department meetings and formulating strategy for department goal attainment.

* Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements

4-year college degree and work experience or equivalent combination (5-7 years - accounting, human resources or related)

Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices related to payroll

Experience with HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) and time and attendance systems

Education and Experience Preferences

Knowledge of multi-state payroll processing

Experience with UKG payroll software

Previous supervisory experience
