Payroll and Staffing Coordinator Valley Stream, NY $65,000 - $80,000 The Payroll and Staffing Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the payroll system, managing employee benefit programs, coordinating staffing needs, and ensuring compliance with labor laws and company policies. This role is crucial in ensuring the accurate processing of payroll, effective staffing management, and adherence to legal and regulatory standards. Responsibilities:

  • Support payroll by managing employee records, including new hires, terminations, and any changes to employment status.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies, keeping up to date with any changes.
  • Manage garnishment deductions and ensure they are processed correctly in payroll.
  • Assist with benefits administration and employee enrollment processes, ensuring all employees are well-informed and enrolled in a timely manner.
  • Handle employee relations, including conflict resolution and addressing workplace issues.
  • Collaborate with payroll to ensure accurate processing of employee information, such as salary adjustments and deductions.
  • Maintain detailed payroll records and documentation for auditing and compliance purposes.
  • Ensure the accurate calculation of wages, overtime, deductions, and benefits for all employees.
  • Manage employee benefit programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks.
  • Coordinate benefits enrollment and manage changes, ensuring accurate and timely updates.
  • Ensure accurate deduction and integration of benefits in payroll processing.
  • Work closely with the payroll team to ensure accurate benefits reporting.
  • Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures to adhere to payroll and benefits regulations.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory bodies for compliance audits and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and nursing home policies in staffing practices.
  • Collaborate with the payroll team to ensure an accurate reflection of hours worked in payroll.
  • Liaise with staffing agencies to meet supplemental staffing needs.
  • Coordinate the onboarding and scheduling of agency staff to ensure they meet nursing home standards.
  • Monitor the performance and reliability of agency staff, addressing any issues as necessary.
  • Manage contracts and agreements with staffing agencies, ensuring terms are met and services are delivered.
  • Ensure that agency staff comply with all nursing home policies and procedures.
  • Track and verify hours worked by agency staff for accurate billing and payment.
  • Verify the accuracy of time sheets and attendance records, ensuring all data is correctly recorded.
  • Monitor the use of overtime and provide weekly reports to manage costs effectively.
  • Regularly review staffing levels and make adjustments based on census and operational needs.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience in payroll management, staffing coordination, or HR operations (required).
  • Strong understanding of labor laws, payroll regulations, and benefits administration.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Proficient in payroll software and HRIS systems, fast learner.
  • Strong analytical skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels.
Work Environment:
