Position Overview: The Payroll Clerk is responsible for processing payroll for various locations, maintaining payroll records, ensuring compliance with regulations, and addressing payroll-related inquiries. The primary goal is to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing for employees and benefit contributions. Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Payroll Calculations & Processing- Collect and enter payroll data, ensuring all information is accurate and up to date
- Discrepancy Resolution- Using HRIS system process payroll, including regular wages, overtime, vacation, and holiday pay.
- Compliance and Record Maintenance- Provide clear communication and support to employees regarding payroll matters.
- Employee Support and Communication- Maintain accurate employee records, including exemptions, transfers, resignations, and leave balances.
- General Administrative Support- Assist employees with payroll-related inquiries, including explanations of pay, deductions, and benefits.
This position is vital to ensuring that employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with all payroll -related regulations. The payroll clerk plays a crucial role in supporting smooth and efficient payroll operations. Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Attention to detail: Ability to process large volumes of data with high accuracy.
- Knowledge of Payroll Laws: Familiarity with federal, state, and local tax laws payroll regulations.
- Strong Organizational Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with employees, managers, and government agencies.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Ability to investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and issues.
- Proficiency in Payroll Software: Experience with payroll software (NETCHEX), Excel and Microsoft Office.
Education and Experience:
- A high school diploma or GED is the minimum requirement.
- Previous experience in payroll processing or accounting is preferred.
Work Environment:
- Full-time, in office position.
- Occasional overtime may be required to meet payroll deadlines.
