Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Director of Accounting, our client is seeking a Payroll Coordinator responsible for coordinating and actively participating in bi-weekly payroll processing. Assumes a leadership role within the payroll team, ensuring adherence to high-quality standards for policy and procedure compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Establishing and maintaining payroll data elements (income, deduction codes, expense coding), executing all payroll software processes (e.g., timecard entry, check updates), managing payroll system tests and upgrades, handling tax transmissions, generating internal payroll reports, and interfacing payroll data with Lawson general ledger.
  • Prepares various payroll-related reports (e.g., 941 forms, W-2 processing, account reconciliations) and supports management by identifying issues, creating customized query reports, analyzing results, and providing initial recommendations for review.
  • Facilitates assessments of pay practice interpretations and supports internal and external audit requests.
  • Actively contributes to the Human Resource Information System team to ensure ongoing system development.

Education:

  • 2 year Associate's Degree in business or related field.

Experience:

  • At least 4 years of computerized payroll experience, including in-depth knowledge of federal and state regulatory requirements.

Other Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in general accounting and software applications. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion, maintain professional interactions with the public, meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities, and foster teamwork through effective role modeling. Strong interpersonal, communication (both written and oral), and organizational skills. Computer literacy.
  • Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), demonstrated leadership capabilities, and familiarity with Ultipro.
