Under limited supervision, this position will assist with the Payroll functions for Coastal Carolina University. The Payroll Coordinator will manage employees in the University systems and ensure all information is in place for employees to be paid accurately. Salary range: $38,985.00 (minimum) - $55,559.00 (midpoint). Normal work hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university. DutiesDuties include, but are not limited to: Manage the processing of Tax Forms through the Onboarding system into the Paperless and Payroll systems. Ensure proper taxation of student employees for FICA. Validate changes made to employee records with documents in Paperless work queue. Responsible for contacting employees to set up Banking Information for Payroll Direct Deposit and ensuring all employees have enrolled. Assist with processing BW Payroll. Manage Time Entry and Time Approvals. Audit system overtime calculations in compliance with FLSA and State regulations and University policy and update records to ensure proper pay. Manage and track timesheets submitted for missed time reporting. Create auditing reports for BW Payroll including but not limited to: excess student hours, benefit changes from prior payroll, and missing/short time. Calculate BW benefit amounts for initial and final deductions as well as changes in coverage. Enter and track voluntary Payroll deductions. Track FMLA reporting and use. Deduct Sick-Family leave from employee Sick leave. Maintain ACA Benefit spreadsheets for part-time benefit-eligible employees. Prepare annual Public Safety allowance letters. Complete employment verifications and other internal and external requests. Prepare post-payroll reports and remittance reports. Create AP vouchers for Director approval and submission. Provide exceptional customer service to all constituents including but not limited to faculty, staff, students, visitors, and the community at large. Serve as the first point of contact for answering questions and solving routine problems related to Payroll. Qualifications
  • Required Qualifications: High School diploma and professional experience in a related area such as accounting, auditing, finance, finance, or commercial lending.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Associates or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Tax, or Finance.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of payroll regulations, policies, and procedures; exceptional organizational and time management skills; high level use of Excel and analytic skills; effective communication skills and ability to build working relationships. Requires ability to exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality, and use independent judgement on a regular basis.
