The Department of Design & Construction, Human Resources and Staff Development seeks a highly motivated individual to serve as the Payroll Coordinator, reporting to the Director of Payroll. The selected candidate will assist with bi-weekly payroll such as: detailed review of various reports in RMDS and Pi including the 160, 161, 700 and 320 and the utilization of employee level approval/holds, stop payments, reversals, manual offsets, and recoupments; reconcile and respond to payroll inquiries. Prepare the biweekly summary of payroll and send to the Office of Payroll Administration (OPA) for approval and release of payroll; pick up of bi-weekly paychecks at OPA, sort and distribute paychecks and stubs; generate or approve all payments (Supplemental, Retroactive, One-time); run and review pay-to-pay biweekly reports; process commuter benefits, direct deposits, and 529 applications; assist with the processing of quarterly differentials, worker's compensation claims, review and process license reimbursement in Pi. Assist with the preparation of managerial lump sum and quarterly differentials/additions to gross; and coordinate with Personnel and Timekeeping Units to ensure accuracy of all paychecks and handle special projects as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 or 2 above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in 1 above.
Preferred Skills
Candidate must demonstrate interpersonal, diplomacy, reliability, and organizational skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particulary Excel. Can handle confidential and sensitive matters with discretion. Knowledge of Payroll Operations. Knowledge of New York City payroll applications such as Pi, CHRMS, PMS, and NYCAPS and RMDS, is a plus.

Residency Requirement
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
