To continue our standardof excellence, Piedmont is seeking a motivated, reliable leader to join our team as a Payroll Lead. This role is vital in ensuring the accurate and timely execution of payroll processes and involves advanced data analytics responsibilities. The Payroll Lead operates as the Full-Time subject matter expert (SME) for Workday Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and Workday Reports Writer, providing critical support for system-related queries and improvements. Additionally, this role includes tax and garnishment duties, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The successful candidate will possess strong experience in payroll processing, including responsibilities for tax reporting and managing garnishments. They will also develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and create comprehensive Workday reports to support payroll analytics and compliance. This position reports directly to the Manager, Payroll.Essential Duties:Lead the daily operation of assigned payroll duties, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processingServe as the SME for Workday HRIS, providing expert guidance on system usage, troubleshooting, and enhancements to optimize payroll functionsDevelop, maintain, and analyze Power BI dashboards to track and report on payroll metrics, trends, and performance indicatorsTrain, assess performance, and provide constructive feedback to team membersOversee the maintenance of payroll records, logs, and files in accordance with state and federal laws and regulationsManage tax reporting duties, including the accurate calculation and submission of federal, state, and local payroll taxes, and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirementsOversee and manage garnishment processes, including court-ordered deductions, ensuring accurate and timely implementation in accordance with legal mandatesCreate and maintain Workday reports, leveraging payroll data to support strategic decision-making, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives; responsibilities include designing custom reports, performing data extraction, and ensuring data integrityOversee the processing of payroll check exceptions, ensuring that any discrepancies are resolved promptly and accuratelyAssist with payroll system updates and integrations, working closely with IT and other departments to ensure smooth implementation and minimal disruption to payroll operationsContinuously identify opportunities for process improvements and system enhancements to optimize payroll operationsJob Qualifications and Competencies:Associate's degree with four (4) years of payroll experienceStrong interpersonal and organization skillsExperience with multi-state payroll and Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA)Excellent problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsPreferred Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree with five (5) years of payroll experienceExperience with Workday HRISWork Environment:Standard office environment, use of telephones, computers, and other office equipmentSome travel may be requiredPhysical Requirements:Occasional lifting up to 25 poundsThe above statements provide a brief description of the general nature of work performed and are not intended to be a complete list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required for this position.
