Position Summary: The Payroll Manager will be accountable for payroll operations, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with domestic regulations. This role will be accountable for managing and maintaining a safe, updated, and efficient payroll process. This role will manage multiple payroll specialists on behalf of the company and will drive process improvement.

Responsibilities:
  • Manages a team of payroll specialists including prioritizing and assigning responsibilities, conducting performance reviews, provide training, coaching, and overseeing the development of the team.
  • Acts as the functional lead in all applications associated with payroll and tax filings, Time and Attendance and other supporting systems including system reports and enhancements
  • Manages processes to review timesheets, wage computation, and other information to detect, reconcile, and resolve payroll discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Ensures accurate calculation of wages, company deductions and tax withholdings. Ensures proper reporting and compliance. Prepares statistical reports as needed.
  • Certifies all payroll processes are following local, state & federal regulations
  • Monitors changes and remains current on legal, regulatory, or governmental requirements including wage and hour, garnishments, tax matters, 401(k) and other benefit deductions
  • Collaborate with inter-departments to implement system updates to improve efficiency, and document the payroll process and procedures
  • Manages the month-end financial close process by reviewing balance sheet account reconciliations for payroll related accounts
  • Assures payroll journals and allocations are processed to meet deadlines
  • Define and manage M&A integration plan and execute to rapidly onboard new acquisitions into payroll system
  • Oversees responses to requests from internal and external auditors as well as management
  • Provide the highest level of customer service as needed, and respond to a variety of payroll inquiries in a timely manner
  • Stay informed about new trends in payroll industry and make recommendations for new and improved payroll services for enhanced employee experience
  • Other duties assigned
Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years experience full responsibility for payroll processing in a multistate midsized company of at least 2500 employees
  • Advanced knowledge of payroll processes and procedures, including wage and hour laws
  • Advanced knowledge of benefits administration for health/wellness, 401k, ERISA, and experience in stock administration preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation, and informal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively across many departments with varying levels of staff and management to solve problems and achieve results.
  • Highly detail-oriented with excellent time management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
  • Experience using computer systems such MS Office preferred. Advanced Excel skills required.

Physical Requirements:

  • May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to read documents, computer screens and data
  • Must be able to hear and understand verbal communications in person and over the phone or computer
  • May occasionally be required to lift or carry items such as files or office supplies weighing up to 15 pounds
  • Must be able to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse and other office equipment

Work Environment:

  • This is a hybrid role, requiring the associate to work in one of our corporate or regional offices 4 days per week.
  • The office is an open setting which may include bright lights, constant noises and distractions.
