Job DescriptionSummary: The Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees in our organization. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to regulatory standards, and the ability to manage sensitive data with confidentiality.   • Oversee and enhance payroll policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, local and wage and hour laws, while monitoring and ensuring adherence to departmental performance metrics.
  • Directly supervise 3-10 direct reports and manage the daily payroll operations for over 8,000 employees across the United States and Canada for salaried and hourly employees.
  • Develop and monitor all tasks necessary to accomplish payroll processing.
  • Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements and facilitate clear communication about union employee pay and deductions, ensuring all guidelines are followed.
  • Provide training and mentorship to the payroll team on payroll processing, tax laws, and related topics. Deliver timely coaching, feedback, and support, and conduct performance reviews to ensure team development and success.
  • Serve as communication escalation liaison for operations (ranging from site manager to company president levels) in order to resolve payroll-related conflicts and provide support.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless payroll processing and support the implementation of any new policies or technologies.
  • Integral part of all of any payroll related aspects for acquisitions and year end duties.

RequirementsEducation/Experience: Minimum of Associate's degree, or equivalent experience, in a related field required. Multi-state payroll experience required. Large company experience a plus. Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common legal and tax documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Math Ability: Expertise in basic algebra and strong proficiency in mathematical concepts necessary for payroll management, including calculating gross and net pay, prorated salaries, applying various tax rates, reconciling payroll discrepancies, and auditing payroll data. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have excellent knowledge of Excel spreadsheet software and intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of ADP WFN and Kronos a plus. Ability to effectively use web-based and internet applications required. Certificates and Licenses: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred. Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises 3-10 employees.
