The Role As a Payroll Manager at Living Room, you will play a crucial role in ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing for our team members. Your primary responsibility is to oversee all aspects of payroll administration, including compiling payroll data, calculating wages, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and processing employee benefits. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and a deep understanding of payroll regulations. You will work closely with Human Resources and Finance teams to maintain payroll accuracy and employee satisfaction.

  • Payroll Processing: Administer the full payroll cycle, including data collection, wage calculations, deductions, and payment processing for hourly, salaried, and tipped employees. Ensure timely and accurate disbursement of wages on a bi-weekly or monthly basis, as required. Manage payroll adjustments for overtime, holiday pay, bonuses, and other compensation changes.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Ensure payroll complies with local, state, and federal regulations, including labor laws and tax regulations. Prepare and submit accurate tax filings, including W-2s, 1099s, and other payroll-related documents. Maintain payroll records in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Employee Support: Address employee inquiries regarding pay, taxes, benefits, and deductions in a timely and professional manner. Manage direct deposit setups, changes, and employee earnings statements.
  • Benefits Administration: Coordinate employee benefits deductions, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee programs. Track employee leave balances, including vacation, sick days, and unpaid time off.
  • Reconciliation and Auditing: Conduct regular payroll audits to ensure accuracy and detect any discrepancies or errors. Reconcile payroll accounts with financial statements to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Human Resources team to maintain updated employee records and ensure proper classification of employees (exempt vs. non-exempt). Collaborate with the Finance department for accurate reporting and budgeting related to payroll expenses.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Paymaster, Payroll Specialist, or similar role, preferably within the hospitality industry.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems and software (e.g., ADP, Paycom, or similar).
  • In-depth understanding of payroll tax laws, labor regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex payroll information in a clear and empathetic manner.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee data with integrity.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Certification in Payroll (e.g., Certified Payroll Professional - CPP).
  • Experience in the hospitality or service industry.
