About this Position: Position Type: Full Time Days: Monday-Friday Hours:8am-4:30pm Pay: $30-$32 Travel: up to 10% Location: Alton, Illinois Summary Reporting to Vice President of Finance, the Payroll Manager is responsible for providing accounting services which further our mission to help people who have different abilities to receive work support and development as needed-achieving the highest level of independence possible. Responsibilities
  • Review and update payroll data in Payroll system for new hires and for system-generated changes
  • Enter all tax withholding and direct deposit information. Assists in month end closings.
  • Review and process all child support and other garnishment orders. Audit vacation, sick and personal time balances, rate tables to ensure accuracy, setup auto deductions and earnings. reporting to Managers. Review quarterly unemployment liability reports and process for payment..
  • Review and verify payroll submitted timesheets including hours worked, wages, mileage, notify managers of errors, ensure corrections are made. Follow up outstanding payroll checks not cleared. Download and distribute employee wage and hour-related reports to designated managers.
  • Audit payroll data utilizing system reports to validate data or locate errors/issues. Verify and enter payroll correction orders.
  • Print checks and prepares for distribution. Submit electronic files, ACH files for direct deposit accounts.
  • Manage or assist with implementation of technology solutions.
  • Generating and importing data into 3rd party system.
  • Review federal and state payroll tax reports bi-weekly quarterly, and annually, balance accounts and complete tax payments. Review and balance year-end tax and deduction reports to electronic process W-2's.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage and hour laws with best practices.
  • Generate retirement contribution files after each payroll. Process the annual retirement census reporting.
  • Audit system settings for employee/client Unemployment, Workers Comp and Tax settings.
  • Update payroll calendars , identifies and recommends update to payroll software, systems and procedures.
  • Generate various customized reports for contract reporting purposes.
  • Answer accounting and financial questions, accurate manner by researching and interpreting data
  • Maintain good rapport with all levels of staff, vendors, and external auditors.
Requirements
  • Education: Associates Degree in Accounting or Business administration/ Finance or Equivalent experience required.
  • Experience: at least 7 years of payroll processing experience required.
  • Knowledge of payroll processing software, multi-state and multi-company payroll processing required.
  • Multi-tasking and meeting deadlines
  • Payroll processing accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Background Checks: pass criminal background check, Various State and Federal Registry checks. Must pass credit history check. DCFS Abuse and neglect tracking system check
  • Driving: must be 21 years or older, maintain valid drivers license, and pass driving history check. Personally insured vehicle is required.
