Position is remote but ideal candidates will be based in the state of Tennessee.

Responsibilities

The Position Summary

  • The Payroll Partner is responsible for the administration and support of the payroll function. The ideal candidate will have proven experience as a payroll specialist with working knowledge including, but not limited to: payroll processing, payroll adjustments, multi-state taxes and reciprocity, garnishments, taxable and non-taxable benefits and fringes, W2 and W2-C processing. Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, the Payroll Partner will provide clerical support to the Director in all aspects of the payroll function. In doing so, the position requires strong confidentiality due to the sensitivity of payroll and personal data and a strong attention to detail. The position will support in audits, follow up with employees and payroll related tasks as needed.
PRIMARY
  • Enter payroll data and process payrolls in an accurate and timely manner
  • Understand, apply, and communicate company pay policies
  • Verify timesheet data, and follow up on any discrepancies
  • Enter changes, corrections, and updates
  • Audit payrolls thoroughly prior to processing
  • Review and process garnishments, LOAs, manual checks
  • Maintain electronic files and reports
  • Run Post Payroll Reports and Audit for inconsistencies
  • Provide excellent customer service to all internal and external customers by answering questions and resolving problems
  • Practice unwavering confidentiality of both employee and company information
  • React productively to change
  • Complete special assignments or projects, such as process documentation, system/data audits, etc.
  • Responsible for learning the aspects of compliance in the company by completing all mandatory compliance training
  • The ability to build and maintain confidence and credibility with all employees.
  • The ability to maintain friendly, cordial relations with all clients and employees; maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that results in a positive work relationship with customers, co-workers, and managers.
  • The ability to perform the physical, use of senses, cognitive, and environmental functions of the position, as specified on the physical demands.

  • Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals (how payroll items flow to the general ledger)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and maintain a positive attitude at all times
  • Knowledge and awareness of legislation and regulatory changes in the field
  • Excellent organizational ability and attention to detail
  • Ability to work occasional overtime as needed to meet deadlines
  • This position will start as a remote role. Reliable high-speed internet and a productive work-at-home environment are required to be successful.
Experience Requirements and Preferences:

Education: High school degree or its equivalent required

Associate's Degree in related field preferred

Experience: At least 2 years of payroll, accounting, or human resources experience, with a focus on payroll/HRIS systems; Paycom experience preferred but not required
