Job Description:

The Human Resources Technician works within the HR Data and Payroll Services division.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Associate's degree in public administration, human resource management, or a related field

  • 2 years' experience in payroll

    Qualifications:

  • Detail-orientated

  • Demonstrate a high level of accuracy

  • Possess excellent organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills

  • Familiarity with federal and Rhode Island payroll and wage and hour laws is preferred

  • Business and fiscal management acumen, proven HR skills and competencies, and the ability to interpret collective bargaining requirements as they relate to the payroll function is desirable

    Payroll Technician Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the timely and accurate payroll processing for assigned state department(s) with complex work schedules and payroll rules

  • The individual in this position will audit and process timesheets in accordance with time and attendance rules to include complex scheduling, overtime, and a variety of other compensation and incentive payments
