Process multi-state weekly and biweekly payrolls in an accurate and timely manner. Perform reconciliations of payroll to the general ledger to make sure they reflect accurate information to report to Finance. Process third party benefit billing and reconcile to payroll. Demonstrate excellent customer service to both internal and external customers. Process multi-state weekly and biweekly payrolls and post balanced journal entries to the general ledger
- Prepare monthly reconciliations of payroll related general ledger accounts
- Perform periodic maintenance of employee payroll information (ex. direct deposits, miscellaneous deductions and garnishments)
- Manual check processing as needed
- Process third party benefit payments to include reconciliations
- Prepare checks, ACH payments and obtain bank confirmations
- File backup paperwork and assist in maintaining archives
- Support initiatives for continuous evaluation and improvement of internal controls
- Provide reports to outside departments
- Assist with audits and special projects as needed
- Cross-train in all areas of payroll processing
Minimum Job Requirements: Education/Certifications: - High School Diploma or equivalent
- Preferred completion of introductory college accounting courses
- CPP Preferred
Experience: - Minimum of 2 years of multi-state payroll experience
- Preferred one year of accounting experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Intermediate to advanced excel skills necessary
- Intermediate general math skills
- Experience with WorkDay payroll system preferred
- Experience with time and attendance systems, NetTime preferred
- Basic SAP experience and/or knowledge preferred
- Experience with ADP preferred
- Experience with processing other payroll related duties such as garnishments, taxes, and benefit reconciliations to include child support processing through ExpertPay
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be detail oriented, analytical thinker with strong problem solving skills
- Ability to be a self-starter working under minimal supervision
- Ability to work overtime as needed to meet deadlines
- Must be flexible in a fast-paced environment, fast learner
- Team player with the ability to build and foster working relationships across departmental lines.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Working Conditions and Physical Effort: - Moderate physical effort required such as standing, sitting, and walking in and around the office; the ability to lift up to 50 pounds; reaching, climbing, and kneeling as needed; utilizing fine dexterity, the ability to see, hear, and communicate with associates as well as others by utilizing professional etiquette.
