About the Job:

super{set} is seeking a talented and experienced Payroll Specialist to implement payroll for super{set} and our portfolio companies. This person should understand how HR related actions translate to payroll implications. You will be supporting our Controller and managing end to end payroll in our shared service model.

This is a part-time, contract position, expected to be 10-15 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate seamless onboarding for new employees by sending welcome emails with detailed guidance.
  • Set up employee profiles in platforms like Gusto and Expensify.
  • Collaborate with benefits brokers to coordinate benefits profile setup.
  • Process I-9 forms and background checks for compliance.
  • Handle off-boarding for terminated employees, including processing final payroll.
  • Respond to unemployment benefit inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Manage and process semi-monthly payroll cycles accurately.
  • Maintain and update payroll records, including changes in pay, deductions, and leaves.
  • Register and process payroll for new state locations as needed.
  • Generate reports such as headcount, contractor, and other ad-hoc requests.
  • Oversee 401(k) compliance and related reporting requirements.
  • Provide payroll-related support to employees and managers with clear communication.
  • Stay current on HR and payroll regulations to ensure compliance.

Qualification:

  • 3+ years of managing end to end payroll execution
  • Experience with Gusto is a plus
  • Experience supporting multiple organizations within an entity is a plus
  • Proven ability to adapt quickly and work independently as a self-starter
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and provide clear, accurate responses to employee payroll inquiries

The estimated hourly rate range for this position is $30, which does not include the value of benefits or a potential equity grant. A wide range of factors are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, market conditions, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and business and organizational needs.
