Overview:

Pacific Retirement Services (PRS), a non-profit leader in the senior living/hospitality industry, is seeking a highly skilled team-oriented Payroll Specialist I to join our team. This is a part-time in-office position and is based out of our home office in Medford, Oregon.

What youll be doing:

As a key member of our team, you will maintain and process the daily activities and transactions of the Accounting Department related to payroll for Pacific Retirement Services (PRS), it affiliates, and managed companies.

How Youll be doing it:

  • Review timekeeping system at the end of the pay period to ensure timecards are signed off and ready for transmission. Run timekeeper Total Hours Balancing reports working with the communities on any discrepancies for corrective action prior to importing payroll.
  • Export time clock hours into payroll system.
  • Balance imported hours totals to ensure all hours were imported, and transmit payroll and additional reports.
  • Review payroll reports to rebalance hours, verify Retro Pays, EE 1 time deductions, Auto Pay Adjustments, bonus pay, and any other changes, verifying all payroll information was entered correctly prior to acceptance and final payroll transmission.
  • Review new hire set up as it relates to wages, position, and benefit eligibility.
  • Download General Ledger Interface files for Accounting Financial Team.
  • Generate Manual final pays, bonuses, and missed hours check daily. Calculate any state mandated calculations. Maintain files for manual and void checks, and a check register for reconciliation purposes.
  • Download, review and balance returned payroll I-Reports for accuracy, record payroll checks and taxes in registers, provide payroll reports to Accounting Finance Officers and communities bookkeepers.
  • Reconcile additions and deletions to employee benefit programs and prepare payments for specified deduction on a timely basis.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and work with community Human Resources to resolve employee payroll questions.
  • Set up garnishments and misc. pay deductions as outlined by the communities.
  • Perform additional manual payroll runs.
  • Maintain appropriate filing system for internal control and external audit purposes as assigned by the Payroll Manager.
  • Follow up on all uncashed payroll checks older than 90 days and send letters to employees as part of unclaimed property guidelines.
  • Test and document changes to system updates and educate supported communities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

About you:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in processing payroll and time keeping systems.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting and bookkeeping practices and procedures is preferred.
  • Computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially MS Excel. Knowledge of accounting systems is preferred.

Schedule: Wednesday - Friday 8:00am-5:00pm

Compensation: $27.44 - $32.00 / hr DOE
