Job Description:

A healthcare network in New York City is looking to fill an immediate need at one of their Brooklyn facilities with the addition of a new Payroll Specialist. About the Opportunity:

  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Department: Finance
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday
  • Hours: 9am to 5pm (35 hours/week - 1 hour lunch)
Responsibilities: The Payroll Specialist:
  • Reviews employee time and attendance for accuracy and completeness; contacts appropriate department concerning missing information.
  • Updates and adjust employee accruals records in Kronos historical edit panel.
  • Inputs vacation requests and adjustments of accruals into the system to update records for appropriate pay out.
  • Reviews new hire forms, personnel change forms and terminations received from Human Resources. Prepares and processes required documents to record payroll information.
  • Contacts Human Resources or department as required regarding missing information.
  • Responds to inquiries from departments and employees regarding paychecks, deductions, accruals and related matters.
  • Prepares off-cycle check requests, as needed for adjustments and/or late vacation requests.
  • Reviews and reconciles completed payroll run reports prior to confirming the open payroll.
  • Prepares payroll summary reports and other reports as required; retrieves information from PeopleSoft and/or microfiche.
  • Reconciles all reports for outside agencies and organizations (e.g., union, court orders, levies) with payroll run; prepares check requests for amounts due to various agencies.
  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Distributes paychecks and to departments as required.
  • Completes questionnaires and forms as required (e.g., unemployment, pension, housing, social security).
  • Prepares other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of Payroll experience
  • High School Diploma /GED
  • Computer savvy
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficient
  • Solid problem solving and time management skills
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly organized
Desired Skills:
  • Associate's and/or Bachelor's Degree
  • Working knowledge of Kronos of PeopleSoft
