Overview:
Barrios Technology has a need for a Payroll Specialist to join the Corporate Finance Team located in the Clear Lake area of Houston, Texas.
Barrios continues to experience growth and we're searching for an experienced Payroll Specialist who will be able to manage our payroll and related process. This position will report directly to the corporate controller. The ideal candidate will have 3 or more years of experience with payroll agencies, UKG preferred, and ERP system experience. Government contractor experience is a plus. Must possess strong communication, organizational, and technology skills. Possess knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Responsibilities:
The Payroll Specialist will:
- Work closely with the accounting team, Human Resources and employees to ensure payroll processed timely and accurately.
- Perform employee payroll setup in payroll system.
- Perform payroll related payment process.
- Prepare leave accrual journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and assist with monthly close processes.
- Respond to information requests, review financial records, and assist with audits.
- File state and local taxes and surveys.
- Support other roles within Accounting and Finance.
- Assist the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Corporate Controller as needed.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
Required Education/Experience/Skills:
- Three (3) years of payroll experience.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Outlook and strong Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, organization and time management skills, with the ability to maintain a strict level of attention to detail.
- Ability to work well within a team environment and demonstrate a vested interest in team goals and objectives.
- Ability to have face to face conversations with co-workers and high-level management.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal and written) skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships.
- Self-motivated with the desire to consistently improve performance and gain further knowledge.
- Ability to meet deadlines, learn quickly and demonstrate effective problem solving and follow-up skills.
- Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer and/or electronic device.
- Comply with company policies and procedure.
Preferences:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Business/Finance.
- Experience with Deltek, CostPoint, and UKG Payroll and Timekeeping.
- Government Contractor experience.
- ERP system experience.
Essential Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.

- Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.

- Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
- This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed.
