What You'll Do As the Payroll Specialist, you will join as Authentic's first ever payroll expert, a critical member of the People Operations and Total Rewards team. You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administration of U.S. payroll. This highly visible opportunity will be pivotal in establishing the policies and procedures that deliver Authentic's best-in-class programming. What you'll be working on:
  • Calculating and auditing wages, overtime, deductions, and benefits.
  • Maintaining and updating employee payroll records, including changes in salaries, tax withholdings, garnishments, and deductions.
  • Ensuring compliance with payroll regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Auditing payroll records, ensuring all employee changes are correctly reflected in our systems.
  • Partnering with Finance to track, audit, and report on payroll-related expenses.
  • Assisting in monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reconciliations, including W-2s and 941s.
  • Processing commission and bonus payments.
  • Completing income verifications, unemployment forms, garnishment responses, and other agency forms.
  • Support Year-End Payroll processing activities (e.g., develop and provide payroll calendar, review year-end tax reports and administration of all year-end tax forms and data audits).
  • Enhancing payroll system functionality, an ensuring employee changes are accurately reflected in ancillary People Operations systems.
  • Responding to employee inquires related to payroll.
Must Haves:
  • A Bachelor's degree in related field, or the working experience equivalent. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation, or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FCP) preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years progressive full-lifecycle payroll related experience with an emphasis on US payroll; experience with third-party/global EOR payroll is a plus
  • UKG Payroll Processing experience is highly beneficial, as is experience implementing the payroll components of an HRIS
  • Knowledge of federal and multi-state payroll laws, and general legal requirements for tax registration, reporting, and special pay requirements
  • Expertise in payroll principles, multi-state tax laws, employee garnishments, regulations, reporting, procedures, pre- and post- tax benefits, deductions, and reporting
  • Working knowledge of banking concepts in the completion of payroll processing
  • Demonstrated success multi-tasking and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Detailed-oriented and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with a strong customer service orientation
  • Maintains the highest levels of confidentiality
  • Scrappy and resourceful, able to navigate challenges and find creative solutions
