Description Northwest Center is looking to hire a Payroll Specialist to join our accounting team. Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, the Payroll Specialist assumes responsibility for the accurate preparation and processing of payroll for approximately 1,000 employees bi-weekly. This position is responsible for management of all payroll accounts, associated records, payroll reporting and taxes. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, proficiency in advanced Excel functions, and ability to work under strict deadlines are essential. Position Title: Payroll Specialist Salary: $ $80,000 - $90,000 annually Location: Renton, WA Benefits:

  • Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll including manual payroll checks as required.
  • Audit employee timesheets for manager approval and accuracy.
  • Keep detailed and organized payroll records.
  • Manage all payroll transactions to ensure they are processed accurately and timely.
  • Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, including issues related to taxes, by investigating inconsistencies, collaborating with relevant departments, and ensuring compliance with legal requirements - including withholding, unemployment, and workers compensation.
  • Process accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year end reporting.
  • Reconcile and post all payroll data to the correct accounting period for tax and general ledger purposes.
  • Accurately track all union deductions from employee payroll, ensure timely and precise remittance of payment to the appropriate union entities in accordance with all union agreements.
  • Prepare monthly reporting and annual audits for workers compensation vendors not covered by WA L&I.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; Associates degree required
  • Formal payroll training
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) and Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) a plus
  • Minimum five (5) years payroll processing experience
  • Ability to deliver great customer service, primarily to employees and Managers along with both internal and external customers
