- High school diploma; associates degree or higher preferred
- Knowledge of payroll processing & accounting; three to five years of experience preferred
- Experience with governmental/public school fiscal operation procedures preferred
- Knowledge and experience in State Software (USAS/USPS) preferred
- Proficient in computer applications (Excel, Word, Google)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Processes payroll for all employees including related withholdings, fringe benefit deductions, direct deposit, and employee leave data.
- Responsible for monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports. File all city, state, and federal taxes. Process deduction checks. Prepares employee W-2 forms.
- Collaborates with Human Resources department to ensure complete and accurate flow of information for payroll operations including fringe benefit deductions and payments, as well as sick leave, personal leave, vacation leave, and other types of absences and accruals.
- Verifies salary calculations and Board of Education approval in consultation with the Treasurer.
- Works with Administration and staff to develop and/or update current policies, procedures, and internal control systems for all payroll functions performed in the Treasurer/CFO's office (including form development, automation, and revisions).
- Assists in training District personnel in payroll department policies and procedures to ensure an accurate and efficient District payroll function.
- Handles information inquiries from District employees regarding a wide variety of payroll related areas.
- Maintains confidential payroll files on all employees.
- Serves as backup, as needed, for Accounts Payable/Receivable.
- Carries out all assignments in a professional manner and maintains a high standard of due professional care in all work performed.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the Treasurer/CFO.
SALARY & BENEFITS:
- Base salary range: $42,474.26- $56,093.59 based on experience and qualifications; additional training allowance based on coursework/degree
