Essential Job Functions:

* Processes payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions and garnishments.

* Review of electronic timecard entry, including ability to comprehend and apply multiple rules and exceptions. Audit data for consistency and accuracy.

* Respond to employee inquiries regarding, pay, payroll forms, procedures, or time software.

* Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed timely and accurately.

* Prepare special payments, complex pay and payroll deduction calculations ensuring compliance with company policies, union contracts and federal and state regulations.

* Prepare stop payments, void checks, direct deposit reversals and overpayment collections in accordance with company, federal, state and union regulations. Work under general supervision from a designated supervisor.

* Strong data entry skills and attention to detail, to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates, including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.

* Maintains or oversees the maintenance of employee records related to payroll.

* Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.

* Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field preferred. An associate degree combined with relevant experience may also be considered.

* Proven experience in payroll processing, typically 2-4 years in a similar role.

* Experience with payroll software and systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Workday, or similar platforms).

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for data analysis and reporting.

* Familiarity with payroll software and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).

* Strong understanding of payroll principles and union contracts.

* Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.

* High level of accuracy and attention to detail in data entry and payroll processing.
