Reports To: Global Payroll Director
Position Description:
The Payroll Specialist, under the guidance of the Global Payroll Director, is responsible for the administration of the day-to-day payroll operations and accuracy of the payroll system that delivers payroll on a bi-weekly basis. The Payroll Specialist will act as backup resource to other Payroll Specialists and perform related duties as required.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
* Consolidate timesheet information to ensure accuracy, including the review of pay codes, hours, and time away from work.
* Process and commit bi-weekly payroll to meet required deadlines.
* Set up and process garnishments, tax levies, support orders and wage assignments as appropriate.
* Understand Ceridian WFM system and Workday as a Processor
* Performs a wide variety of record keeping and payroll processing activities
* Provide support for ongoing payroll operational activities
* Answer routine payroll and payroll tax related questions from team members and groups
* Assist and prepare ad hoc requests
* Conduct research, and compile information for reports
* Regularly review current processes and procedures and make recommendations for improvements to SOP or systems to enhance performance and create efficiencies.
* Participate in efficiently carrying out the functions of the existing payroll processes while assisting with developing and testing new payroll processes and procedures when system and business requirements change
* Participate in various payroll audits as required by internal and external audit teams
* Research compliance issues, IRS laws and states laws, to provide recommendations for improved compliance on internal payroll and payroll tax processes
* Participate in payroll projects, meetings, and opportunities as assigned
* Work closely with Payroll Partners to provide excellent customer service and be back up for payroll processing as needed
* Assist Payroll Team with annual data compilation for audits that may include 401k and Workers' Comp
* Knowledge of payroll related taxes and the taxing agencies
* Keep management apprised of all payroll issues and up-coming changes
* Performs other related duties or projects as assigned by the Global Payroll Director.
Job Specifications:
* Experience with high volume, multi-state payroll environment
* Knowledge of payroll related taxes and respective taxing agencies
* Experience in coordinating long-term and short-term planning in a fast-changing environment
* Ability to work with all levels of management and interact effectively with team members
* Instill confidence in the workforce and management by maintaining the highest level of confidentiality at all times
* Excellent organization skills and good customer service ability
* Good communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with vendors, management, and team members
Required Education and Experience:
* Associate degree in a related field preferred
* Two (2) plus years of payroll experience
* Basic knowledge of FLSA, Federal and State withholding requirements
* FPC Preferred, but not required
* Strong foundation of the fundamental concepts of payroll
* Experience with Ceridian and Workday a plus
* Proficient with Microsoft 365 suite, specifically Word and Excel
Supervisory/Responsibility:
This position does not supervise team members

Position Type:
This is a regular, full-time position with possible overtime. Must be able, available and willing to work more than 40 hours per week, including scheduled and unscheduled overtime.
Travel:
Occasional domestic travel may be required for this position.

The physical demands described here are representative of the those performed in the job duties. The employee sits at a desk and uses a computer for prolonged periods of time. Performing the role frequently uses close vision, speech, hearing, and dexterity to operate office equipment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
