Payroll Specialist

We are rapidly growing and have some exciting new opportunities within our Finance team at NVA Canada. We are seeking a self-driven, inspirational Payroll Specialist that values a Servant leadership approach. The Payroll Specialist brings an understanding of the full range of payroll disciplines and capability around the delivery of high caliber front-line services to NVA employees, and a passion for supporting and enabling the organization's objectives and success.
What You'll Do:
As a Payroll Specialist your role would be to provide day-to-day operational and administrative guidance to our veterinary hospital sites across Canada on payroll administration, legislative inquires and payroll system configuration.
Key Duties:
* Responding to veterinary hospital payroll issues through identification of the problem itself, research on answers and subsequent provision of guidance.
* Guiding customers through Payroll software, enabling them to use the software effectively.
* Keeping abreast of trends and changes in payroll and employment legislative areas.
* To support, guide and assist other team members in resolving hospital and payroll queries.
* Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual tax reconciliations and government filings to meet deadlines.
* Review of supporting documentation related to hires, terminations, compensation changes and follow up of any issues prior to payroll submission.
* Submission of bi-weekly Dayforce Payroll
What makes someone a good fit?
* 5+ years' experience processing full cycle payroll with good knowledge of the payroll functions including preparation, balancing, internal control, reconciliations, and payroll taxes.
* 3+ years' experience with Ceridian Dayforce, report writing and implementation and testing experience.
* Up-to-date knowledge of multi-provincial payroll and employment legislation to ensure regulatory compliance.
* Strong attention to detail, issue resolution, analytical and interpersonal skills.
* National Payroll Institute designated PCP or PLP.
* Fluency in French is an asset.
