Job Description:
Summary:The Payroll and Benefits Specialist will execute multi-state payroll processing. The incumbent provides operational support to the human resources team. This position requires an individual with attention to details and strong aptitude for process optimization and quality customer service to all employees.Role and Responsibilities:Responsible for accurate and timely payroll process, including timecard recordkeeping, review of payroll reports, and funding communications with Finance.Perform payroll processing quality assurance reviews prior to processing, including reviewing batch records for ad-hoc bonus payouts.Processes garnishment/child support/liens set up and processing and communicate updates necessary to the employee.Manage all benefits/Payroll/HR audits including regulatory benefits management, NDT, audits and HR and compensation related surveys.Provide guidance, training, and support to all employees, including new hires, on timecard management, provide additional training to managers on timecard approvals.Maintain HRIS data and system requirements including performing audits to ensure data integrity, including ACA Management and timely review of user system access requirements.Prepare all scheduled weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting related to benefits and payroll administration; analyze as required. Complete the quarterly payroll tax reconciliations. Prepare HR related reports, including preparing monthly HR Management (staffing, wages and attendance) reports, completing the timely regulatory reporting, verifications of employment and unemployment reporting.Administer the day-to-day aspects of the retirement plans, including enrollment, contribution funding, deferral rate changes, maintaining up-to-date beneficiary information, distribution of appropriate notices, account rollovers, loans, etc.Reconcile monthly premium statements. Work with Accounting Department to ensure allocations are correct.Provides assistance with ad-hoc, special projects, as neededEssential Qualifications:Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Human Resources is preferred.Experience: Minimum 3 years progressive experience in administering payroll and benefits in multi-state.Knowledge/Skills/Experience:Proven track record of applying payroll processes - timekeeping, garnishments, bonus-structured payments, and understand state and federal regulationsDetail oriented with a high level of accuracyExperienced using Ultipro/UKG preferred.Flexible and able to prioritize workload based on urgency and importanceSense of urgency and ability to meet deadlinesStrong computer skills including a proficiency in MS ExcelFlexible schedule during HR Sponsored EventsDemonstrated excellence in organization, planning and project management; skilled in record keeping, data collection and systems informationDemonstrated ability to establish effective communication and relationships with external and internal stakeholders
