Payroll Specialist
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Payroll Specialist to manage end-to-end payroll processing for U.S. employees. The successful candidate will ensure timely and accurate payroll runs while maintaining compliance with applicable tax laws, wage and hour regulations, and company policies. This role is crucial for overseeing payroll processes across multiple states and jurisdictions, ensuring accuracy, and providing exceptional employee support.
Responsibilities
+ Manage end-to-end payroll processing for U.S. employees, ensuring timely and accurate payroll runs (bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly).
+ Oversee payroll for multiple states and jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws, wage and hour regulations, and company policies.
+ Review and ensure the correct application of employee deductions (taxes, benefits, garnishments, etc.) and ensure payments are made to the appropriate third parties.
+ Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and other regulatory requirements.
+ Open tickets and partner with payroll tax reporting specialists to address payroll tax-related issues.
+ Ensure timely filing of tax documents (e.g., 941, 940, W-2s, W-3s, etc.) and ensure proper record-keeping of payroll information.
+ Work with external auditors for payroll-related audits, providing necessary documentation and ensuring compliance with audit findings.
+ Enter and maintain employee information in the payroll system.
+ Stay current with payroll software developments and recommend updates or new systems as necessary.
+ Manage and configure the payroll system for open enrollment, ensuring accurate setup of benefit plans, rates, and employee eligibility.
+ Serve as the primary point of contact for employees with payroll-related inquiries, including timesheet, tax, garnishment, and pay discrepancies.
+ Provide guidance on payroll-related matters, including payroll policies, pay schedules, and deductions.
+ Identify opportunities for streamlining payroll processes, improving accuracy, and increasing efficiency.
+ Implement best practices to reduce payroll errors and enhance operational productivity.
Essential Skills
+ 3 years of payroll processing experience.
+ Experience with multistate payroll processing (Federal, State, and Local Tax).
+ Year-end support experience.
+ Proficiency in payroll software such as ADP, Paychex, Workday, and Kronos.
+ Knowledge of payroll tax regulations.
+ Strong skills in payroll accounting.
+ Experience with VLOOKUP.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with payroll software developments.
+ Ability to manage and configure payroll systems for open enrollment.
+ Excellent communication skills for employee support.
+ Experience in identifying and implementing process improvements.
Work Environment
This is a fully in-office role with the potential to transition to a hybrid schedule (3 days in-office) after six months or longer, depending on training. The Payroll Specialist will work out of the plant location, closely collaborating with the People & Culture Department, which consists of a friendly and outgoing four-person team. The fast-paced environment includes frequent interactions with production staff on-site, requiring the ability to address questions and meet deadlines efficiently.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $31.25
