A Payroll Supervisor position is available with the City of Fort Worth Fire Department to work within the Payroll Section in the Administration Unit. This position will be located at the Bob Bolen Public Safety Complex, 505 W. Felix, Fort Worth, TX 76115. This position provides payroll assistance to over 1,000 active Fire personnel to include both Civil Service and Civilian employees. This position works within a team to ensure that all payroll related tasks and responsibilities are successfully carried out on a daily basis. As well as ensuring work quality and adherence to payroll policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business, finance, accounting or a related field.

* Two (2) years of experience in payroll operations, including one (1) year of administrative or lead supervisory responsibility.

* Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Two (2) or more years of management or supervisory experience.

* Advanced knowledge of ERP Payroll System, Workforce TeleStaff, and UKG Dimensions, with ability to research and resolve issues.

* Experience with moderate accounting principles.

* Superior customer service skills.

* Ability to research and resolve payroll issues.

* Experience working in a payroll department of a major city.

* Experience working with KRONOS/UKG systems (TeleStaff/Dimension) and PeopleSoft

* Leading or assisting with the implementation.

The Payroll Supervisor job responsibilities include:

* Supervises, coordinates, reviews and participates in the work of employees responsible for complex payroll related functions.

* Ensures work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures.

* Performs technical and complex payroll tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

* Provides staff guidance, assistance, and troubleshooting.

* Prepares analytical support and statistical reports on payroll activities.

* Coordinates end of the pay period reports and processes.

* Monitor payroll related issues and work towards timely and customer friendly resolution.

* Assist in managing department use of payroll system and develop Service Level agreements (SLAs).

* Generate and maintain complex reports to leverage system capabilities and/or MS Office tools and uses SQL or other database product to create queries and/or define reports.

* Use and/or troubleshoot payroll system and performs quality assurance.

* Assists in developing procedures and their maintenance.

* Assist in providing training to end-users and may provide basic desktop and mobile-user training on new systems.

* Provide outstanding internal and external customer service.

* Assist in process improvements and implementing changes.

* On-site Monday to Friday Work Schedule, with occasional holiday and weekend work (Bob Bolen Public Safety Complex at 505 West Felix St., Fort Worth, TX 76115).

Working Conditions

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions.

Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class. Final candidates selected for hire in the Police Department will be subject to fingerprint/criminal history background check and polygraph examination. Applicants must not have used marijuana during the previous two (2) years, nor illegally used any controlled substances within the last five (5) years.

Physical Demands

Sedentary Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
