General Description: The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for the preparation of bi-weekly payroll for approximately 850 school employees. This includes management of all information dealing with wage and payroll deductions (taxes, retirement, insurance, HSA) and preparation of W-2s and Quarterly 941 Tax Returns. This position must work closely with Human Resources Coordinator, Benefits and Business Office personnel and personnel across the district. Qualifications: - Must hold an Associates Degree in Accounting and equivalent business experience. Bachelor's degree in related field is preferred;
- Must possess superior organizational, computer and accounting skills
- Must have a solid working knowledge of State and Federal Laws and Regulations
- Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills as well as interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated skills in planning, organizing, payroll, management as well as the effective use of related technology tools and platforms
Duties and Responsibilities - Employee Maintenance / Positions / Leave Plans / Deductions
- Maintains TimeClock System for hourly employees
- Reviews timesheets for 350 hourly employees biweekly
- Processes biweekly payroll
- Provides information on Unemployment / Workers Comp claims
- Completes annual pension census
- Prepares payroll schedules required for all levels of union negotiations
- Budget Salaries and FICA expenses for each upcoming fiscal year
- Performs Database Rollover and Set Up pertaining to payroll
- Updates all salaries and longevity for contracts.
- Uploads monthly contributions to TRB
- Prepares Quarterly tax returns (DOL, 941 IRS) and Annual tax returns / W-2s
- Maintains tax tables
- CJIS management and compliance
- Assists in data collection required to complete Federal and State Financial Reports in collaboration with the Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations and Human Resources Coordinator.
- Manages all account projections of payroll and benefit accounts updating monthly appropriation report.
- Administers employee 403, 457 and 401a plans
- Assists Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations with preparation of annual FPS audit information
