Job Description Link Solutions is seeking a PC Desktop Technician to join our team in Frederick, MD.

The PC Desktop Technician will support and manage the functionality and efficiency of desktop computers and video teleconference rooms supporting the Army's Medical Material Development Activity (USAMMDA) operations at Ft. Detrick, MD. The technician will provide computer hardware and software services to end users for the operation and use of related peripherals. They will work as part of Tier 1 and 2 service teams to ensure a timely response to service requests and incident tickets.   • Manages and coordinates a variety of Information Systems projects, such as new system installations for a department.
  • Install, set up or relocate, configure, troubleshoot, and support PC/server hardware and software.
  • Install and configure software upgrades.
  • Configure and perform tuning of operating systems to enhance PC performance; install and configure network interfaces and Internet connections; diagnose network cable and configuration problems.
  • Install and maintain specialized software, including performing setup functions, and developing associated file structures.
  • Coordinate support with the local Network Enterprise Center.
  • Oversee support tickets for Training Management Directorate (TMD) users.
  • Implement and design an organization-wide set of standards for the implementation of future and existing information systems.
  • Report directly to Senior Leadership regarding ongoing projects and tasks.
  • Respond to user inquiries and requests and provide technical assistance on PC systems, related hardware and software, and standard applications; provide helpdesk information and support; determine the cause of the problem; offer temporary solutions if the problem cannot be resolved within an appropriate timeframe.
  • Provide on-call support outside of core work hours for unscheduled events or scheduled service interruptions.
  • Capable of lifting and moving basic computers, monitors, printers, and other IT peripherals.

  • US Citizen
  • Active DoD Security Clearance
  • IAT Level II Certification equivalent or higher per DoD 8570/DoD 8140 (CompTIA Security+ CE, CCNA Security, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP, etc.).
  • AA/AS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field with a comprehensive understanding of computer science concepts or one (1+) year of relevant experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of the most recent version of Microsoft Operating System, Microsoft Office applications, and other common desktop applications.
  • Experience with remote connection and troubleshooting using Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager/Server.
  • Basic troubleshooting of printers, copiers, fax machines, and all-in-one units knowledge.
  • Experience with network installations and upgrades.
  • Knowledge/experience with basic network toolsets.
Preferred:
  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field with a comprehensive understanding of computer science concepts.
  • IAT Level III Certification equivalent or higher per DoD 8570/DoD 8140 (CASP+, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP, GCED, GCIH, etc.).
  • Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) servers experience.
  • Experience working in a Department of Defense (DoD) environment.
  • Experience with Knowledge Management or process creation.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Capable of conveying complex information simplistically.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong self-starter requiring minimal supervision.
  • Able to take proactive measures to prevent future incidents.
