Job Description:

In this role, you will provide technical assistance and training to system users and install, modify, and make repairs to personal computer hardware and software systems as well as peripherals.

Examples of Duties:

* Installs or assists service personnel in installation of hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, scanners, plotters and external storage systems on user's premises.

* Loads specified software packages such as operating systems, application suites, cyber security software, and mobile communications software onto computers and verifies operations. Verifies system readiness and functions to ensure correct system operation.

* Provide Tier 1 technical support to computer users via the Help Desk by resolving software and hardware problems on City computers. Includes prioritizing incoming telephone, voice mail, e-mail, and in-person requests for technical support from users experiencing problems with computer hardware and software, server systems, peripherals, telephones, mobile devices, networking, and other computer-related technologies.

* Collects information about problem and enters all associated data into Help Desk service order/trouble ticket system for assignment and tracking.

* Responds to client inquiries concerning systems operation and diagnoses system hardware, software, and operator problems.

* Troubleshoots and performs remedial actions to correct problems.

* Instructs users in use of PC and peripheral hardware and software.

* Coordinates activities with Help Desk and other Information Technology Department groups.

* Provides updates, status, and completion information to manager, problem request tracking system, and/or users, via voice mail, e-mail, or in-person communication.

* Replaces defective, inadequate and outdated hardware and software.

* Refers major hardware problems to external service personnel for correction as warranted.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

* Associate's degree (AA/AS) or equivalent; and 2 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

* Valid driver's license.

* Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office or similar software.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Access, Project, Excel and Word or similar software.

* Knowledge of IFAS/OneSolution financial software helpful.

Other Necessary Requirements:

* May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.

* In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City's needs.
