Golden Years Homemakers & Companion are hiring Personal Care Assistants (PCA) who are hard working, compassionate, and willing to provide services to elderly individuals in a home care setting. We service clients all over the state of CT and are flexible with all our employees when it comes time to scheduling with case availability ranging from hourly to 24hr total in home care.

Qualifications:

  • Be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Minimum of six (6) months work experience in a supervised setting, preferably health care facility.
  • Experience providing care to elderly or disabled persons in the home setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, and follow a written Plan of Care.
  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable means of transportation to/from all assignments.
  • Valid drivers license, registration, and insurance on vehicle.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish, preferred but not required
  • Available to work every other weekend

Responsibilities

  • Performs household services essential to health care at home, including but not limited to: Meal preparation/feeding, Laundry, Light housekeeping.
  • Remind patients to take medications that are ordinarily self-administered under the direction and supervision of patient and/or family members
  • Performs personal care activities, including but not limited to: Bathing, Shampooing, Skin care/nail care, Oral hygien, Shaving, Dressing
  • Performs routine housekeeping duties
  • Reports any observed or reported changes in the client's condition and/or needs to the Care Coordinator.
  • Documents care provided and completes the forms required for the client's records. Completes the appropriate records to document care given and pertinent observations.
  • Promotes personal safety and a safe environment for clients by observing infection control practices, following Agency guidelines, and reporting unsafe situations to the Care Coordinator.
  • Demonstrates safe practice in the use of equipment. Does not use equipment until orientation about its operation has been provided. Notifies supervisor of educational needs.
  • Communicates effectively with all members of the agency staff through verbal reports, participation in staff meetings, and team conferences, as requested.
  • Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
  • Successfully completes annual skills competency validation.
  • Attends in-service programs to meet compliance requirements.
