Job Description:

A Personal Care Assistant is an individual who provides support services to assist clients with personal, physical mobility and therapeutic care needs, as established by a rehabilitation health practitioner, social worker or other health care professional. The Personal Care Assistant may work in a variety of settings, to include medical facilities, rehabilitation centers or in-home residential care.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Provides services to persons who need help with day-to-day activitiesDemonstrates competence in performing the necessary skills based on the patient's plan of careProvides health care tasks, personal hygiene services, and other related support services essential to the client's health and safetyAssists with transfers and ambulationPerforms incidental household services that are an integral part of a personal care plan (if applicable)Provides companionship by reading, listening and talking with clientAssists client in the development of independent skills through self-care activities such as toileting, clothing routines, and personal hygieneImplements behavior management techniques in accordance with the directions given by the supervisor/healthcare practitioner; including reinforcing appropriate behaviors in accordance with plans and discouraging negative behaviorReports changes in patient/client statusAdheres to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) privacy policies and proceduresPerforms other duties as assigned/necessaryMinimum Requirements:State licensure or certification if required by state and/or contractOne (1) year relevant patient/client care experience preferredComplies with all relevant professional standards of practiceParticipation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicableCurrent CPR if applicableTB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicableCurrent Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)Must meet all federal, state and local requirementsSuccessful completion of new hire training as applicable to job siteUnderstand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirementsAbility to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language may be requiredComputer proficiency requiredMust be at least 18 years of ageBenefitsAt Amergis, we firmly believe that our employees are the heartbeat of our organization and we are happy to offer the following benefits:Competitive pay & weekly paychecksHealth, dental, vision, and life insurance401(k) savings planAwards and recognition programs*Benefit eligibility is dependent on employment status.About AmergisAmergis, formerly known as Maxim Healthcare Staffing, has served our clients and communities by connecting people to the work that matters since 1988.
