Job Summary and Qualifications

The PCT Apprenticeship will start March 24, 2025. See program details below.

  • Certifications you will receive: PCT and Phlebotomy
  • Qualifications: Entry level candidates, CAN NOT have experience or school/certification as a CNA, MA, Tech/Aid or any similar healthcare fields.
  • Timeframe: 14 weeks
  • Rate of pay during program: $13 per hour while in the PCT Apprentice program
  • Work Schedule: Students will be in class/training during the week, full-time 8:00am – 4:30pm. (in-person at North Lake College Alternate Campus in Irving Texas and clinicals at a designated MCH hospital) You will be paid for class time and weekend shifts. Students are required to work 1 weekend shift per week as a PSA. Class and training schedule times will vary and include several 12-hour clinical days.
  • Position while in program: Patient Safety Attendant PRN

The Patient Safety Attendant (PSA) participates in high-quality, patient-centered care by providing continuous observation and monitoring for high risk patients. In collaboration with the patient care team, the PSA ensures the patient environment is free of obstacles and minimizes risk of falls and accidental or intentional self-harm. The PSA may also assist with basic activities of daily living

  • Commitment agreement: Required to work as a PCT for 12 months following completion of program.
  • Completion of Program: After participants complete the Apprentice program and receives their PCT and Phlebotomy certification they will move to a full-time PCT position if available or PCT PRN position at the Medical City hospital location where they completed their PSA shifts. Pay rate will be $15.00 per hour.

What qualifications you will need:

  • High School Diploma Required.
  • Will consider only candidates that are not enrolled in school and who truly able to complete the PCT and Phlebotomy certifications.
  • Basic Life Support Position Requirement: BLS is NOT required at point of hire for PCT apprentice program; A BLS certification course will be provided the first week of hire prior to any hospital shifts.
