SCHEDULES AVAILABLE:

  • Part-time 60hours biweekly Shift - Eve/Mid (7p-7:30a)
  • 12-Hour shifts, every third weekend - every third weekend - every other holiday

  • The Postpartum PCT II must demonstrate the skills and knowledge necessary to provide care to newly delivered mothers and their newborns as well as including supports persons/family in the provision of care. Job duties include, but not limited to, performing and accurately recording vital signs, accu-checks (both finger sticks and heel sticks), newborn bathing/testing, newborn feeding/changing, mobilizing patients out of bed, and maintaining the environment of care. The Postpartum PCT II should have strong communication skills and be able to work collaboratively with nursing and provider colleagues to provide interdisciplinary care. In addition to the clinical duties of the PCT, the Postpartum PCT II position requires the execution of clerical duties to help support unit flow, capacity management and admission/discharge workflows.

    PRIMARY FUNCTION:

    The Patient Care Technician II (PCT II) supports activities of daily living under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse. The PCT must demonstrate the skills and knowledge necessary to provide care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Job duties include, but not limited to, performing and accurately recording vital signs, Accu-checks, bathing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and mobilizing patients. In addition to the PCT duties, the PCT II position requires the execution of clerical duties to help support the nursing staff and patients. PCTs are an essential part of the nursing care team with an expectation to support the organizations patient safety goals and initiatives.

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Demonstrates skills and knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to patients in various stages of development.
    • Performs assigned nursing duties for the comfort and well-being of patients.
    • Responds to patient crisis situation and initiates interventions within the scope of responsibilities and notifies RN.
    • Performs successful finger sticks on patients, following all standard laboratory safety policies.
    • Performs defined procedures on point of care instrumentation.
    • Responds with promptness, empathy and interest to needs of patients.
    • Communicates to patients, employees, and physicians utilizing courteous verbal and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrates competency using required computer skills including order entry, admission, discharge and transfer procedures, and ordering of tests.
    • Maintains charts according to CCHS guidelines, coordinates maintenance of unit supplies (e.g., storeroom, central, maintenance, etc.).
    • Use proper documentation, writes legibly, signs transcribed orders and records appropriate data, etc.
    • Performs other related duties as required.
    • Completes mandatory in-service education.
    • Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
    • Assist with transferring patients between units and off units for discharge.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    High school graduate or equivalent AND one or more of the below qualifications:• Previous patient care experience including taking vital signs• Nursing student who has successfully completed clinical hours or completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program• Acceptance into a Christiana Care approved Patient Care Technician training program• 2 years clerical or related experience preferred

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

    BCLS Certification required.
