Join our team! Clarivate is seeking motivated Patent Analysts to work with us in support of a contract with the US Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO). As a Patent Analyst, you will be responsible for performing a comprehensive search and written opinion on the patentability of an array of diverse technologies.
About you - experience, education, skills, and accomplishments
* Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Microbiology, or Biotechnology
* At least 1 year of previous patent examining or patent searching experience
* At least 1 year of experience developing search methodology and conducting searches using databases such as Orbit, Derwent Innovation, Google Scholar, Google Patents, PubMed
* Must be a U.S. citizen or work-eligible legal resident who has continuously resided in the U.S. for at least the two previous years
* Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
It would be great if you also had
* Master's or PhD
* At least 3 years of previous patent examining or patent searching experience
* In-depth knowledge of technical literature in the areas of engineering, software, and business methods
* Demonstrated work experience in roles requiring a high level of attention to detail
* Strong time management skills and dependability in completing quality projects against deadlines
What will you be doing in this role?
* On a weekly basis, accept projects with a defined due date
* Demonstrate the ability to read a disclosure quickly and understand the technical nuances which may potentially distinguish it from the prior art
* Perform a comprehensive search to ensure the most relevant prior art is located and provide a logical and complete search history
* Prepare a written opinion applying the most relevant prior art to the disclosure
* Maintain proficiency with commercial patent searching databases and other proprietary databases of technical publications
* Stay abreast of best practices and changes to search procedures via self-directed review of materials provided by Clarivate
* Maintain consistent timeliness and superior quality of deliverables
* Ensure compliance with Clarivate's Code of Business Ethics and Corporate Conduct
About the team
Our team has supported the USPTO by providing PCT Chapter I Search and Examination services since 2005 (formerly as Landon IP and CPA Global).

This is a full-time, permanent position
This position is fully remote working in the United States
Compensation - US Only
The expected base salary for this position is a base salary of $55,000 USD per year with eligibility for productivity earnings.??Individual pay is based upon experience, education, skill and ability, expertise, and relevant factors.
