Role and Responsibilities
- Welding Techniques: Operate welding machines and tools to join plastic parts using methods such as hot air welding, extrusion welding, or solvent welding.
- Preparation: Cut and prepare plastic materials for welding, ensuring proper fit and alignment.
- Inspection: Inspect welded joints for quality, strength, and compliance with specifications.
- Maintenance: Maintain and troubleshoot welding equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Documentation: Keep accurate records of work performed, materials used, and project specifications.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineers and production teams to understand project requirements and timelines.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in welding or fabrication is a plus.
- Experience: Previous experience in plastic welding or related manufacturing processes is preferred.
- Skills: Proficiency in using welding tools and equipment; strong attention to detail; ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy materials and work in various positions for extended periods.
Physical Requirements
- Clarity of vision at varying distances to perform various work assignments.
- Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment.
- Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally.
- Occasional bending, kneeling, or crouching.
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Climbing ladders and working from heights as necessary.
- The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.
The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done.
