- Work with the treatment team to address student physical fitness needs
- Create individual lesson plans for each group of students and address individual physical ability levels
- Creatively establish lessons and activities that follow the guidelines of a psychiatric hospital and engage students in physical activities, while fulfilling the requirements of GADOE State Standards for Physical Fitness
Laurel Heights Academy is a department of Laurel Heights Hospital, a residential treatment facility located in Atlanta, Georgia. Laurel Height's teachers are responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the classroom, including establishing the curriculum and daily activities for the patients in the classroom. This is a new position with room for growth, autonomy, and creativity.Laurel Heights Hospital is an intensive Residential Treatment/Acute and Autism Spectrum Disorders Program for children and adolescents. We serve and treat psychiatric and behavioral difficulties and co-occurring psychiatric issues. We provide a caring, therapeutic setting with various therapeutic modalities and applied behavior analysis services. Our classrooms are small, with support staff to assist with classroom management.Benefits:

Qualifications Bachelor's degree and ELIGIBILITY for Ga Teaching Certificate Teaching experience and Special Education experience preferred. GA PE Educator's Certificate required.
