Mission or Goal of Unit: Children's Hospital ofRichmond at VCU has committed itself to transforming the Division of AdolescentMedicine into a model academic unit devoted to excellence in clinical care,teaching, and clinical, translational, and basic research.Chief Purpose of this position: The Division of Adolescent Medicine is seeking a physician to join our team. The division sharesresponsibilities for education and clinical care in an academic outpatientadolescent health service. Opportunitiesexist for consultation with juvenile detention centers, communityoutreach/advocacy, and collaboration with adolescent gynecology andchild/adolescent psychiatry. Requires teachingand mentorship to medical students, residents and fellows.Position Responsibilities: TeachingFaculty member willhave teaching responsibilities in the area of Adolescent Medicine. Faculty member will provide guidance andmentorship to Residents and Chief Residents in the area of Adolescent Medicine.ResearchFaculty member willhave working knowledge in basic research methods and be able to participate inclinical, translational and outcomes research.ServiceFaculty member willserve on departmental or School of Medicine level committees when appropriate,as well as professional activities through journal review, conferencepresentations, etc.ClinicalFaculty member willprovide oversight for clinical activities of the division of AdolescentMedicine in support of the clinical mission of CHoR of VCU Health system.Required Qualifications:
- Board Certification in General Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine
- Experience with adolescents
- Experience with education of house-staff, medical students, and others
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications:
- Sub-board and/or additional graduate degree
- Experience with advocacy at local, state, and national level
- Success in generating revenue (grants/contracts)
