The Division of Pediatric Hematology Oncology, in the Department of Pediatrics, University of Utah Spencer F. Eccles School of Medicine, has an immediate opening for a board-certified/eligible Pediatric Immunologist who will join the Pediatric Immunology and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant/Cellular Therapy Program. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a collegial academic environment at the University of Utah and Primary Children's Hospital (PCH). The pediatric clinical immunologist will provide clinical consultation, as well as ongoing care for a large and growing immunology program and will also participate in clinical and/or basic research in inborn errors of immunity. The pediatric immunologist will also function as our Immunology liaison to the Primary Immune Deficiency Treatment Consortium (PIDTC) and will provide primary management of the Utah and surrounding state newborn screening programs for severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID). Clinical activities will be carried out at Primary Children's Hospital's main campus and our companion campus in Lehi, Utah.

The pediatric immunologist will have the opportunity to implement early phase and investigator initiated clinical trials, and to collaborate with established immunology and cell therapy programs. Active areas of research in the program include novel immune and cellular therapies, gene therapy, studies of rare immunodeficiencies, and alternative and reduced toxicity stem cell transplants. Applicants with active basic science research programs will be provided appropriate lab facilities and start-up. There is also opportunity to be involved in the Immunity, Inflammation and Infectious Diseases Initiative, which seeks to foster collaborations between basic and clinical investigators. The University of Utah has a strong program in genetics and bioinformatics with a focus in gene discovery and long history of successful collaborations between clinical and basic investigators. In addition to clinical service and research activities, there is both opportunity and expectation for academic work, including education, administration, and advocacy.

The Pediatric Hematology, Oncology, Immunology and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant/Cellular Therapy Program is growing, and is currently comprised of more than 25 pediatric oncologists, including 4 pediatric BMT attendings, and 3 PhD investigators. The associated Service-Line includes colleagues and investigators in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, Transplantation and Cellular Therapy, and Radiation Oncology, along with additional services at the Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI). The division houses the only pediatric BMT service in the Intermountain West, performing over 50 transplants annually, and has an active CAR T cell program.

All medical, pathology, radiologic and surgical subspecialties are represented in the children's hospital. The Department of Pediatrics has a wealth of clinical expertise needed to collaborate in the management of organ-specific manifestations of immune dysregulation. Faculty have a particular interest in inflammatory bowel disease, primary sclerosing cholangitis, eosinophilic esophagitis, solid organ transplantation, HLH, autoimmune neurologic diseases, immune-mediated and infectious lung disease, systemic rheumatic diseases and infections in immune-compromised host, among others.

Qualified candidates must be Board Eligible/Board Certified in Pediatrics and in Allergy/Immunology. The selected candidate will receive a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics on the Clinical or Tenure Track at the academic level commensurate with experience and qualifications.
