The clinic emphasizes a holistic approach, focusing on preventive care and promoting healthy lifestyles for children.Job Summary:As a Lead Pediatric Nurse or Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in assisting healthcare professionals in providing high-quality patient care. You will perform a variety of clinical and administrative tasks to ensure smooth operations in a pediatric practice. Your primary responsibilities will be as following -Clinical Duties:
  • Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Take and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and weight.
  • Intake patients in Athenahealth - reconcile medications, allergies, history and vaccinations etc.
  • Review Scoring Sheets for ADHD, depression etc and enter scores in EHR.
  • Collect and process patient samples for routine office testing and document results in EHR.
  • Perform basic laboratory tests, such as urinalysis and glucose testing.
  • Administer medications and injections as directed by MD or Nurse Practitioners.
  • Assist with minor surgical procedures and wound care.
  • Autoclave instruments after minor procedures
  • Conduct EKGs, hearing and vision testing.
  • Provide patient education and instructions on medication usage and preventive care.
  • Maintain and clean medical equipment and examination rooms.
  • Triage sick patients or walk-ins and alert MD or Nurse practitioners if they need immediate medical attention.
Administrative Duties:
  • Monitoring wait times and taking charge in assigning intake, office testing and injections etc to other Medical Assistants working during the shift to optimize workflow and improve patient satisfaction.
  • Review and Prepare Charts for the next few days, for example updating vaccines, reconciling history from patient portal etc.
  • Review and / or record temperature logs on FL Shots according to practice policy.
  • Review VFC and Private Vaccine inventory weekly and alert administration, if low.
  • Provide school and shot record forms to parents at the end of visit.
  • Handle phone calls, inquiries, and requests from patients and other healthcare professionals.
  • Notify admin assistant or practice manager of inventory of medical supply needs.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure smooth workflow and effective patient care.
  • Request patient reviews if the patient was very satisfied with staff or provider.
Requirements
  • Must hold a current and unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in pediatric nursing, including clinical assessments, administering medications, and providing direct care to infants, children, and adolescents.
  • Familiarity with common pediatric conditions, treatments, immunizations, and developmental milestones.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, and the healthcare team in both verbal and written formats.
  • Proficient in using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems for documenting patient care and following up on medical records.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with pediatricians, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, and other healthcare staff to provide high-quality patient care.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a nurturing and patient-centered approach to care for young patients.
  • Attention to Detail: Accurate documentation, medication administration, and ability to monitor and report changes in patient conditions.
  • Previous experience in a pediatric clinic or hospital setting.
