Certified Peer Recovery Specialist Department: Family Medicine - Clinics Pay Grade: 8 Job Category: Support Staff Job Summary: As the Certified Peer Recovery Specialist at East Tennessee State Universitys Addiction Medicine Fellowship Clinic, your lived experience and certification allow you to directly support those battling substance use and behavioral addictions. Youll manage a caseload of high-risk patients, working closely one-on-one and with their loved ones to set individualized treatment goals. Through compassionate peer support, advocacy, and service coordination, youll help people every day achieve whole-person wellness and long-term recovery. The CPRS Coordinator is a key player in the growth of the Addiction Medicine program and the success of the patients outcomes. * Current patients of the Addiction Medicine Fellowship or former patients of the Addiction Medicine Fellowship discharged less than two years from this job posting, are not eligible for hire due to standards of confidentiality and the best interest of our patients. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of the Patient-Centered Medical Home model/mission; Knowledge of health insurance procedures; Knowledge and understanding of the causes of a substance use disorder, and the compassion needed to work with this patient population; Knowledge of how to find and ability to interpret the information given by the EMR system, nursing staff, and physicians. Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and comprehend instructions (whether written or verbal), correspondence, professional journals, and technical procedures. Ability to compose correspondence and documentation. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in one-on-one and small group situations to patients, third parties, and other employees of the organization; whether in person or on the telephone. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries, complaints, and situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with faculty members, staff, patients, and other third parties. Ability to operate standard office equipment. Ability to concentrate under high demands and listen effectively. Ability to organize tasks, work as a team member, and/or independently use sound Case Management skills with various professional disciplines.
