Their core programs-Child and Family Treatment Center, Therapeutic Day School, Creative Therapies, Foster Care, Transitional/Independent Living Program, Workforce Development, and Community Wellness-have met the changing and complex needs of youth and families by not only becoming more community based, but also by developing more preventative programs that help curb violence in Chicago's communities.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS SUMMARY:The People and Culture Coordinator supports the People and Culture team with essential administrative tasks related to onboarding, recruitment assistance, employee data management, and day-to-day People & Culture functions. This entry-level role is integral to maintaining People and Culture operations, assisting with talent acquisition logistics, and ensuring People & Culture files are organized, accurate, and compliant. The coordinator will also have opportunities to engage in employee recognition programs and DEI initiatives, gaining foundational experience in multiple areas of Human Resources. The position requires an appreciation for the Lawrence Hall mission and a basic understanding of the youth/customers served by Lawrence Hall. Participation in basic trauma training and the ability to utilize skills acquired in that training when interacting with youth/customers of the agency will be expected. To ensure success, our Coordinator of People and Culture should display a strong interest in helping others, a 'service first' attitude and a desire to learn and grow.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBLITIES:Onboarding
  • Support new employees throughout the pre-employment process to ensure new employees are completing all the requirements in a timely manner
  • Assist with HRIS profile setup, ensuring data is entered accurately.
  • Deliver a consistent and engaging pre-boarding experience, ensuring that new hires are effectively integrated and equipped to succeed.
  • Oversee and continuously improve the orientation process
Talent Acquisition
  • Develop, post, and maintain job descriptions and postings across various job boards, social media, and the company's career page.
  • Coordinate interview schedules and manage communications with candidates and hiring teams throughout the hiring process.
  • Conduct initial phone screenings to assess qualifications, cultural fit, and salary expectations.
  • Manage and track applicant status within the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to ensure accurate record-keeping and compliance.
  • Complete employment verifications for new hires and current employees.
  • Support outreach efforts and attend job fairs.
  • Collaborate with leadership on internship program and pre-boarding process.
Employee Engagement
  • Support employee engagement activities, such as surveys, recognition programs, and
  • team-building initiatives.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee questions on policies, procedures, and benefits.
  • Assist with employee recognition programs and engagement initiatives by tracking participation, helping to organize events, and gathering feedback to support a positive workplace culture.
HR Coordination
  • Manage and update personnel files and employee data in the HRIS in compliance with DCFS and DFSS agency regulations, and generate periodic reports as needed for audits and accreditation.
  • Collecting, managing, and reporting employee data to drive retention improvement.
  • Attend weekly P&C meetings as needed
  • Handle administrative tasks such as sending out employee spotlight newsletter, maintaining org chart, completing employment verification requests.
  • Create and maintain HR templates, forms, and SOPs to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements by supporting audits and managing processes related to driver's clearance and bi-annual physicals.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employees, volunteers, and program participants to provide a safe environment.
  • Understand that behaviors, responses, attitudes, and emotions are a collection of survival skills often developed in response to traumatic experiences.
  • Requires a basic understanding of the programs and the young people/customers served by Lawrence Hall and participation in basic trauma training with the ability to utilize that training when interacting with young people/customers of the agency.
  • Attend at least two trainings related to being trauma informed in a twelve-month period.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree required; minimum of 1 year of HR-related experience or relevant administrative experience.
  • Meticulous attention to detail for ensuring accuracy in candidate information and documentation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot challenges and find creative solutions to recruitment issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of engaging and influencing various stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, multi-tasking, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and willingness to learn HR and sourcing technology.
  • Comfortable with technology, including DocuSign, familiarity with ATS software for managing recruitment processes, Applicant Pool and PayCom a plus.
  • A commitment to integrity and the Code of Ethics of the Human Resource profession as well as the Agency's Code of Ethics.
  • Ability to perform job duties with commitment and enthusiasm, projecting a caring and professional manner and exercising sound judgement.
  • Valid Illinois Driver's license.
  • No history of child abuse or neglect and the ability to pass background and drug screen.
