The Role Of A People Partner at Workato
A People Partner provides people leadership and guidance to client groups while influencing and delivering on people initiatives aligned to business priorities.
As key strategic partners, we help develop and drive talent strategies that unlock performance, enhance employee engagement, nurture our culture and set our teams up for success. You should be able to zoom out to see the whole picture and to develop the strategy, and then zoom in to drive tactical results. You are a highly credible, trusted partner and an advocate who displays excellent judgment and is experienced at providing expert advice and counsel at all levels across the business.
As the People Partner for our globally-based G&A teams, you will work closely with their leadership to drive people strategies that align with our business goals. In this role, you'll act as a trusted advisor while also being responsible for supporting operational HR activities, including those specific to US people operations. You will play a key part in scaling our people processes to meet the demands of our growing company and provide expert guidance on US employment law and HR best practices.
Specifically, you'll be responsible for:
- Partnering with your leaders to develop and execute HR strategies that align with business goals, with a strong focus on supporting growth and scalability in a fast-paced environment.
- Supporting your business units with workforce planning, talent development, and retention strategies to ensure we have the right people in the right roles as we scale.
- Being a knowledgeable, trusted, pragmatic, solutions-oriented partner to your leaders and business units.
- Providing guidance on US-specific HR matters, including compliance with federal and state labor laws, employment regulations, and benefit programs.
- Managing and resolving complex employee relations issues, providing both proactive and reactive support to managers and employees, ensuring fair and consistent handling.
- Developing and implementing HR strategies that support key business objectives and drive overall organizational performance.
- Being a strategic advisor on a wide range of people-related topics, including organizational design and effectiveness, talent management, strategic workforce planning, employee engagement, performance management, and other key HR initiatives.
- Fostering a culture and environment of continuous improvement and high performance.
- Leading and supporting organizational changes, ensuring smooth transitions for employees and teams during periods of rapid growth and change.
- Leveraging people data and analytics to provide insights to leaders, identifying trends and making informed decisions regarding talent, performance, and engagement.
- Supporting as needed in day-to-day HR operations such as onboarding, employee transitions, benefits administration, and employee inquiries, ensuring processes run smoothly.
- Ensuring compliance with all labor laws and regulatory requirements, partnering with legal and HR leadership to mitigate risk and maintain best practices.
- Partnering closely with HR colleagues and cross-functional teams to share best practices, align initiatives, and drive company-wide people strategies.
Skills & Experience
- 4+ years of experience in an HR Business Partner or similar HR role, ideally in a high-growth tech or startup/scaleup environment.
- Demonstrated experience supporting G&A teams.
- Strong knowledge of US employment law, labor regulations, and HR compliance requirements with International labor law experience is a plus.
- Proven ability to work as a strategic advisor while also executing day-to-day tactical HR functions.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and influence at all levels of the organization.
- Experience in managing employee relations and conflict resolution in a fair and consistent manner.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, managing multiple priorities with agility.
- Ability to synthesize information and use data analytics to inform decision-making and measure impact.

For California residents, total cash compensation will start at $125,000.00 (base + variable), plus equity and other perks and benefits.
