The NECO Clinical Network is the patient care and clinical education subsidiary of the New England College of Optometry and encompasses a wide network of local, national and international sites throughout which our students do their clinical training. As one of the largest providers of optometric services in Massachusetts, our faculty and students provide optometric services to nearly 90,000 patients annually in more than 43 locations, including many of Greater Boston's community health centers. NECO Center for Eye Care is seeking applications for the role of Per Diem optometrist and clinician educator, with a particular emphasis on primary and soft contact lens care. The optometrist will have the opportunity to provide comprehensive clinical care within a collaborative environment at NCEC Commonwealth. Precepting optometry interns in the clinical setting is included in the assignment. The position ranges from regularly scheduled hours on Saturdays and potential fill-in opportunities throughout the week. The position is less than 20 hours per week and is non-benefits eligible, but can accrue sick time per Massachusetts law. Clinical attending optometrists are also faculty members that have teaching appointments with NECO, and thus advance both the service and teaching missions. Requirements
  • OD licensed to practice optometry in the state of Massachusetts at highest level of certification, (TPA+ classification)
  • Mass Controlled Substance Registration
  • Medicare eligible
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to type efficiently in electronic health record
EXPERIENCE:
  • Optometry residency completion or 5+ years of clinical experience
  • Preference given to providers who have previously had precepting experience
