Job Description:
1. Promote a safe, cooperative and professional health care environment to ensure optimum patient care (as per HR Policy 113c).2. Adheres to all hospital policies, procedures, rules and regulations, including but not limited to, absenteeism, ETIME, cellular telephone usage, dress code and rules of conduct.3. Makes Customer Service a priority, treating customers (patients, visitors, and co-workers) in a professional manner exercising courtesy and tact. Effectively communicates with patients and others about SBH services in their area(s) of expertise or responsibility and ensures that concerns, questions or issues reach the right person(s) in SBH in a timely fashion.4. Performs duties related to the operation and maintenance of boilers and related equipment, pumps, air compressors, etc.5. Fire boilers and controls generation of continuous supply of steam for heating hospital buildings for supplying power to machinery and auxiliary equipment and for laundry and sterilizing equipment.6. Tours boiler room to observe operating equipment, meters, and gauges to ensure that operation is in accordance with specified instructions.7. Manipulates valves to control the flow of water and fuel and to increase or decrease steam pressure as required.8. Adjusts equipment controls to correct malfunction when indicated by observation or in response to a signal light.9. Notifies engineer when repairs or assistance is required.10. Records in log book meter, gauge, graph and readings and repair work performed.11. Using specified chemicals periodically tests and treats the boiler water.12. Perform repairs such as replacing worn gaskets, and replacing defective parts, lubricates pumps and other related equipment as directed by watch engineer.13. Cleans power plant equipment internally.14. Cleans and maintains power plant equipment.15. Paints machinery and work area.16. Performs other duties of a generally similar nature as requested.1. Three years of full-time satisfactory experience acquired within the last ten years in the lubrication, maintenance, and repair of boilers, incinerators, air conditioning or related equipment, or in the operation and maintenance of high pressure boilers; or 2. Not less than one and one-half years of experience as described in 1 above plus sufficient training of a relevant nature acquired in an approved trade or vocational high school to make up the equivalent of the remaining required experience. Six months of acceptable experience will be credited for each year of approved trade or vocational high school. 3. License(s) Required - New York City Certificate of Fitness P-98, A-35, S-95, F-01, F-60, S-12, S-13.
