This is a dayshift role, 7:00am to 7:00pm. The NP/PA will round on patients in the morning and provide cross-coverage on admissions until the end of their shift. There is a minimum requirement of two shifts per month. We are located on the CDH Main Campus at 30 Locust St, Northampton, MA 01060.The NP/PA will support physicians, collaborate with consultants, nurses, case managers, rehab providers, and others to provide high-quality, efficient care for the Hospitalist Service patients. In this full-time role, you will have access to a competitive benefits package tailored to meet your needs!Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe Hospitalist NP/PA will be responsible for the following:Caring for patients on the med/surg floors and acting as first response with supervising physicianCompleting initial patient evaluations, inclusive of obtaining a history, completing medication reconciliation, performing an exam, reviewing diagnostic testing, and documenting an H&P as well as entry of admission ordersMonitoring patient progress and coordinating treatment plans with supervising attending, consultants, and providers in other disciplinesDocumenting subsequent encounters through completion of progress notesPerforming procedures in accordance with clinical privilegesDischarging the patient from the hospital, including:Performing discharge medication reconciliationCoordinating discharge care plan, including follow-up with Primary Care Provider and/or subspecialist as needed to ensure safe care transitionsProviding education to patients, and family members, regarding their illness, medications, nutrition, diagnostic tests, procedures, care plan, and post-discharge careTriaging patients from CDH ED as well from outside hospitalsCollaborating with nurses, hospitalists, and other providers to accept patients, as appropriate, from CDH ED, outside hospital EDs, and outpatient clinicsCommunicating with accepting providers to ensure a smooth transitionQualificationsQualificationsWhen hiring, we look for candidates who possess not only the relevant skills and competencies, but also positive attitudes, emotional intelligence, and genuine passion for this work.Education:Master's degree in nursing or physician assistant studies required.Experience:2-3 years of inpatient NP or PA experience preferred.Certification:Certified Massachusetts Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant licensure required upon hire.EEO StatementMass General Brigham is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
